Smokey Mountain Lacquers Glow Glow Purple

With all of the nail polish I've acquired over the years, it's surprising that I've never worn a glow in the dark polish before. I know, I don't know how that happened either! When Kim from Smokey Mountain Lacquers told me she was sending me a polish that glows, I was really excited!

The name says it all, Glow Glow Purple is a purple polish that glows. Ok, I guess there is more to tell. Let's look at a pretty picture first.

Glow Glow Purple has a little bit of a jelly polish consistency going on but it dries matte. The first coat was sheer but it built up nicely (I used three coats). Like I said, it dries matte but when you apply top coat this beautiful shimmer pops out.

I love this shade of purple.

 Macro!

Surprise, it glows blue! Love it!

Have you tried a glow in the dark polish? What did you think about it?

Glow Glow Purple will be available at Smokey Mountain Lacquers' Etsy store,  December 23 for $9.00.

Born Pretty Store Sweet Color Review

I've been reviewing products from Born Pretty Store for a while now but I never tried any of their polishes. I thought it was long over due so I picked a Sweet Color polish to review this time. Most of you probably know that nail polish can not be shipped by plane. With Born Pretty Store being located in Hong Kong, it took about a month to arrive (I live in the U.S.).

This Sweet Color polish is called Multicolored Shell Glitter #4. You can find it, here on the Born Pretty Store site. If you want to purchase the polish I'm reviewing, make sure you pick #4.

Alright, let's get to the good stuff.

Sweet Color Nail Polish
I used two coats of Sweet Color Multicolored Shell Glitter #4 over two coats of OPI Roadhouse Blues (navy blue). I topped it off with one coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat to get a smooth finish.

Sweet Color Nail Polish
I didn't have any problems with the formula. It applied smoothly with a lot of flakes every time I pulled out the brush. The polish has a black jelly base and a lot of beautiful flakies that flash orange, green, yellow, and a tiny bit of purple.

Multichrome Nail Polish

What do you think? Flakie polishes used to be very popular but I still love them. Do you still wear this type of polish? Let me know in the comment section below.

You can find this polish, here for $9.99. For 10% off, use my coupon code below!

House of Holland by Elegant Touch Review

This post is going to be a little different than what I usually do. Yep, it involves nails but not nail polish! I've never tried false nails before so I was really interested to see how I'd like this product. Before I get into the product itself, here's a little background.

The company Elegant Touch Nails teamed up with fashion designer, Henry Holland. Together they created House of Holland Nailed, by Elegant Touch. They will be available at Ulta for $7.99.

The company sent me Face Ache, Heart Breaker, and Polka-Dot It to check out. The first thing I'd like to mention is how much I love the packaging. The kits come in house shaped boxes, complete with a chimney. Seriously, how cute is that?!? Each side of the box is decorated with instructions on the back (instructions are also inside).

Let's check out the packaging. That's important, right?

Inside each box are 24 nails, 10 sizes, nail glue, one small nail file, and instructions.

House of Holland Nailed by Elegant Touch - Polka-Dot It
Black and White Nail Art
I chose Poka-Dot It to try. Not having ever worn false nails and not being familiar with Elegant Touch, I had no idea how long they'd last. I followed the directions and decided if they lasted for seven days, that's when I'd remove them. They lasted for eight days (I was too tired to remove them on day seven)!!! Eight days! Eight days and still going strong.

Press on Nails
The directions recommend using the foil method for around 30 minutes (I think) to remove the nails. With the polka dots being so big, I let them soak for 40 minutes. I still needed to scrub a little after I removed the foil but they came off pretty easily. For the most part, my nails weren't damaged. If you pull or pick at the nails, you will damage your nails. I left them alone so there are only a few parts of my nail that were damaged in the removal process. My cuticles are of course, angry with being soaked in acetone for 40 minutes. I have been moisturizing constantly and they have since calmed down.

3D Nail Art
My only complaints have to do with this specific set. The polka dots are quite raised and they snagged my hair which drove me nuts. I would love this design so much better if they were flat. The other thing has to do with the thumb nail in this set. I was trying to peel off a sticker with the thumb nail and the tip started to bend a little. Not the entire nail but just the very top of the nail tip. My suggestion would be to make that nail a little stronger.

Even with those two things, I would highly recommend these nails. I think the designs are adorable, they stayed on for eight days, and they come in an adorable little house. What more can you ask for? ;)

What do you think about false nails? Have you ever worn them before? Would you try this product?
Let me know in the comment section below!

You can find House of Holland Nailed by Elegant Touch at Ulta, Elegant Touch, and House of Holland. I can't find them on Ulta's website. If you have spotted these in an Ulta store, let me know in the comment section!

CrowsToes My Favorite Amazon

"Glitter Bombs" are one of my favorite types of polish. I usually prefer them to be toppers but who am I kidding...I love glitter in any form. Today, I have a glitter topper from CrowsToes, My Favorite Amazon. CrowsToes makes amazing glitter polishes. They're what caught my attention with CrowsToes in the first place. My obsession with CrowsToes happened when I discovered that they make amazing holos, duochromes, and shimmers too.

My Favorite Amazon is a glitter topper that would look good with a lot of different base colors. I chose a gold polish, China Glaze Mingle with Kringle for mine.

China Glaze Mingle with Kringle
My Favorite Amazon has a clear base that is packed with glitter. There are white stars and red, white, blue, gold and silver hex glitters in various sizes.

China Glaze Mingle with Kringle
I love the formula of this polish. You get a ton of glitter every time you pull out the brush. You don't have to fish for anything either. I usually got a star out every time, I think I had to play Go Fish once. Love it!

China Glaze Mingle with Kringle
I used two coats of My Favorite Amazon on each nail. I didn't use normal brush strokes, I dabbed the glitter on which is what I always do with glitters like this. I used two coats of Cult Nails Wicked Fast for my top coat to get a smooth surface.

China Glaze Mingle with Kringle
Here's a macro of the bottle. Isn't it pretty? I absolutely adore this polish.

Press Release - Cult Nails

Cult NailsTM Warehouse Overstock Clearance Event!

Nail Polish Sale

Cult NailsTM has had tremendous support over the past 3 years, and I am thankful and truly humbled by this day after day. When I conceived the line, my dream was to eventually offer several core colors while introducing and evolving approach seasonally. Much like fashion designers create lines specific to seasons and trends, my objective was to bring that idea to this industry. The concept was simple, be a niche brand of polish that brings a little something different while maintaining an appeal to many. In 2014 we will introduce new shades in smaller sized collections with the idea that many of the colors will be limited edition runs that, once sold out, are unlikely to remain as core colors.

In preparation for 2014, and the new direction we are heading, we are clearing out the warehouse. We've got several colors ready to be sold between 40 and 60% off! While several of these colors are amazing, and incredibly unique to Cult NailsTM, we simply have too many in the warehouse to adequately prepare for what promises to be an exciting year at the Compound!

Below is a list of colors that will be available at the discounted rate effective immediately!

      $7.00:

      $6.00:

      $5.00:
  • Alter Ego
  • Mazo
  • Swanbourne
  • Two Timer

This event will last until December 31, 2013, or while supplies last. This will be the last chance to get these colors before they are removed from the site permanently, allowing us to prepare for next year!

During the event, and beyond, we will be modifying our Free Shipping policy and requirements. Starting now, US customers will receive FREE shipping on all orders over $20.00, orders to Canada and Mexico will ship free at $50, and international orders will require $100 to qualify.

As we get ready to celebrate our 3rd anniversary, and begin the transition in concept, we are giddy with anticipation. 2014 promises to be an exciting year for Cult Nails! Now, if only we could keep that other Cult from confusing people...

Super Black Lacquers Swatches

I'm back with four gorgeous polishes from Super Black Lacquers. I now have eleven polishes from this company and I've been impressed with them all! I'll add links to my other Super Black swatches at the end of the post in case you'd like to check them out.

The formula was consistent with all of the polishes so I'll just tell you about it here. Perfection. These babies practically apply themselves. They are so smooth and they self level amazingly well. You only need two coats, they dry fast, and they are stunning. This is a high quality brand in my humble opinion. Need I say more? What? Oh...the pictures. Right. Here ya go. Ok, one more thing. I used one coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat with all of the polishes. Enjoy!!!

Heather is a luxurious purple linear holo. The holo effect is strong as you can see in the pictures. Indoors it's a subtle shimmery purple. Love.

Spanked is a deep raspberry linear holo. I adore this color.

Guilty is a yellow gold linear holo. As with Heather and Spanked, sunglasses outside may be helpful. Oh, be careful driving. ;)

3rd Degree is a reddish orange polish with gold shimmer. In the bottle the shimmer effect is insane. On the nail, it's more subdued but you can see it. This would be excellent for pedicures in the summer time. Actually, I may just put it on my toes right now to brighten my spirits.

Which one is my favorite? Hrmmmm.......Spanked? It's too hard to choose. What about you? Which one do you love the most? Make my day and leave a comment below.
