Mint Mani For Talia Joy

Today's post is going to be a little different. It's not really about the nail polish. It's about a member of the Beauty/Makeup/Nail Blogging community that passed away this week. Many of you may already know who Talia is and may be rocking your mint manis today. If not, let me fill you in a little about Talia and how she touched my heart.

Talia was a successful YouTuber who was battling cancer at the young age of 13. She was a very talented makeup artist who said that makeup was her wig. She was an upbeat, positive, and happy kid despite her trials. She inspired many including me. Being a person with chronic pain, I tend to get depressed and sometimes angry about the things I am missing out on in life. Let me be very clear, I'm not comparing what I'm going through with my health with someone who has cancer. When I stumbled across her channel, I was immediately sucked in by her adorable personality. Then I started thinking about how I need to work on being more positive and go for the things I want despite what is going on with my body. In the words of Miss Talia Joy, I decided to "just keep swimming"and with a smile on my face.

The last picture Talia posted of her nails was of a mint colored mani. The nail art community decided to honor her by wearing mint manis today (technically yesterday). I posted my mani on Instagram and Facebook and am just now getting to my actual blog. *doh*

This picture is from my iphone and before I put on cuticle oil. When I went to take pictures with my camera, I bumped my nails and found out that they were not yet completely dry. My mani was ruined and I am so glad I took this picture with my phone. Phew!

Essie Sand Tropez with Stamping

I did this mani a few weeks ago right after my nails broke. Essie Sand Tropez is the base and I used Konad Special White and plate Bundle Monster #21 (BM21) for the design. It looks like a design you'd find on curtains but I still like it. It was refreshing to have a neutral creme on my nails with all of the crazy colors I use. Sand Tropez had a nice formula. I needed two coats to make it opaque.

Essie Summer 2012 Collection - Poppy*razzi

If you love neons, you're going to love the upcoming collection from Essie. Poppy*razzi is Essie's Summer 2012 collection that consists of four vibrant neons. It will be displayed with a white and a top coat (not sure if they are new) to really make your neon tips pop and last.

Are you into neons? Will you be passing or stashing?

OPI - Fly (Nicki Minaj)

I have my picks from a couple collections coming soon. Before I post those, I want to share one last swatch from OPI's Nicki Minaj collection. I took a lot of pictures and loaded them up on my laptop for editing and then my adapter stopped working. The Apple Store is downtown and I just had a procedure done on my back so I couldn't make the trip. My husband sensed my laptop withdrawals and picked up a new adapter for me today. Yay! He works downtown so it worked out well. Ok, enough babbling here is Fly!

Before I got into nail polish, I thought colors that weren't in the red family were strange for nails. I know, I missed out for a looooong time. I always wondered why people would put a color like this on their nails! So narrow minded of me lol.  This is one of my favorite new colors right now. I've been on a blue and green kick lately and I love love love this one. I don't have anything like it although I know there are plenty out there.

Fly is a gorgeous teal creme. The formula was fabulous, opaque in two coats, and I love the shine. Your fingers will get a little Smurfy when taking this off but it's not that bad.

I tried a few different layering looks for you to see. Left to right: OPI Super Bass Shatter, Essie A Cut Above, OPI Save Me, and OPI Nicole Kendall on the Katwalk (my favorite combo).

Alright, that completes my OPI Nicki Minaj swatches. I'm off to work on the OPI Holland and China Glaze Electropop Collections.

As always, thanks for reading!

OPI Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday

I had no intentions of buying anything from the OPI Nicki Minaj collection. It isn't anything against Nicki, although she isn't my cup of tea. I just felt that there wasn't anything special in this collection. When I saw them in person at Ulta my mind quickly changed. I now love all of the polishes, with the exception of Did it on 'Em (yellowy green color). I've read a lot about how they resemble the Shrek Collection. That was before my polish addiction began so I don't have any of those in my collection to compare.

Today I'm going to show you Pink Friday. Pink isn't my go to color by any means but something drew me to this shade. It's very bubble gum pink, loud, and not my style but it's cute and fun. I'm trying to push out of my comfort zone when it comes to polish so I wanted to give this a try. I'm glad I did, it's really fun!

I'm surprised by how much I like this shade of pink. As much as I love the color, I'm not a fan of the formula. The formula is on the runny side and needed three coats to reach opacity. I can still see a bit of my nail line but it isn't enough to bother me. You can't tell in this picture but there were a few patchy bald spots toward the bottom of my nail. I didn't wait as long as I should have in between coats which is probably the cause of that. Despite the problems with the formula, I would recommend this polish.  Give it more time to dry before applying the next coats and it should be fine.

Here are some layering combos for your viewing pleasure. ; )

Index Finger: OPI - Superbass Shatter
Middle Finger: OPI - Save Me
Ring Finger: Essie - A Cut Above
Pinky: Essie - Pure Pearlfection

Essie - A Cute Above: I wasn't sure I'd like this combo, I thought it would be too much pink but I think it works!
Essie - Pure Pearlfection: I couldn't get my camera to pick up the beautiful shimmer of Pure Pearlfection. Trust me, it's gorgeous. =/

Save me is SOOO beautiful in person. There is blue and holographic bar glitter along with smaller pieces of silver glitter. I didn't think I'd like this one at all but when I saw how much is sparkles in person, I couldn't resist.
Party on my nails!

Which combo do you like the best? Would you rock Pink Friday?

Essie - A Cut Above

Essie's Luxeffects Collection is one of my favorite collections to come out in the last couple of months. Remember, I didn't have Flakies before so this was very exciting for me to pick up. I do, however, have a lot of glitter but that didn't stop me from picking up A Cut Above. Come on, it's chunky pink glitter! I couldn't separate her from the rest of her sparkly family! That would just be wrong.

Here I used one coat of A Cut Above on top of two coats of Zoya's Raven (black creme).

I love this! I want to try it on top of everything. What do you think of this, do you like it?

Essie - Shine of the Times

Flakies are huge right now. It seems that every major polish company is jumping on the flakie bandwagon and I am loving it! I've recently acquired flakies from Finger Paints, Zoya, and of course Essie's Shine of the Times. I've read that Shine of the Times looks like Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure and Nubar 2010. I don't have them to compare but the pictures look pretty identical to me. I have been dying to get my hands on 2010 before Essie released Shine of the Times. Lemming satisfied!

Check it out, it has an amazing color shift from an orange/red to a blue/green. I used NOPI Khloe had a Little Lam Lam as my base color. The first picture reminds me of fall leaves. Beautiful!

Eek, I didn't wrap my tips very well! Doh!

Gorgeous right? Shine of the Times is from Essie's Luxeffects Collection that came out over the holidays. I found mine at Ulta last month but they are still available.

Cartoon Frankenstein

Welcome to my very first blog post on Pamper with Polish! I am so excited to start this new adventure. This is my first attempt at nail art. I'm happy with it as it is my first try. I'm also learning how my camera works to make the best pics for my blog!! I'm open to critiques (be gentle please) and tips on how to improve my art! I saw this idea on a blog and I can't remember the name. If it's you, let me know so I can give you proper credit! If you know who it is, let me know!

Ready for the Frankies? Here we go!

Here we go!
""Ahhhh! We're upside down, this can't be good!"

""Hmmmphhhhffff"

"Finally!"

"Not again, come on! Take the picture!"

I tried to make a different expression for each Franky to give variety. I also, as you may have already noticed, put a coat of CG Fairy Dust over their hair. I know, what your thinking. I just couldn't help myself. I must have glitter somewhere on my nails!!
OPI Envy for BC, Essie Sew Psyched, Black Striper for hair and scars, Zoya Snow White for eyes with dotting tool, Nicole Razzle Dazzle for the eyeballs w/ dotting tool, China Glaze Fairy Dust for the hair (no reason for that), and Seche Vite Top Coat. All done. Weee!
I hope you enjoyed.
Have you done any Halloween styled nails yet? I'd love to see them!!
