CrowsToes One Trick Pony

I have the One Crazy, Mad Summer Collection by CrowsToes and I've been going back and forth with how to show them to you. I originally planned on doing a collection post but I just can't do that. I have too many pictures from this collection and I'm having a hard time deciding which pictures to show. I want to show them all! So, I'm chopping it up. Today, I'm showing you One Trick Pony. 

One Trick Pony is insane. It's a holographic polish that either looks purple or green depending on the lighting. As you will see, the holo effect is extremely strong. The formula was great, I only needed two coats. Top coat does not weaken the holo effect at all (I used Cult Nails Wicked Fast). 

Now, for the holo spam. Put on your sunglasses and strap on your bibs.

Smokey Mountain Lacquers - Scream Queen

Anyone who knows me knows that I love the holiday season. I've been counting down the days until October 1st so I can put up my Halloween Decorations. I have to wait until the first of the month. I'm weird that way. My husband isn't a holiday person so he just rolls his eyes when I start covering our house in decorations. I was going to wait until October 1st to start showing Halloween polishes/nail art but Smokey Mountain Lacquers sent me this adorable polish to review. Now I have Halloween on the brain and I don't know how much longer I can contain myself. 

Smokey Mountain Lacquers (SML) is a new indie polish company that just opened shop about a month ago. This is the fifth polish I've tried and I've been impressed! 

This is one of SML's Halloween polishes called Scream Queen (love the name). It's a bright neon green jelly with black hex glitters. Now, neon and bright colors don't get along with my pasty skin but if you're into those shades, I think you'll like this. The formula is a little thick and a little goopy but not enough to make it difficult to apply. I think the thickness helped it build to opacity in just two coats. Putting a tiny bit of thinner may help if it bugs you. It dries quickly and slightly matte. I used a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast to make it nice and shiny.

Cult Nails Riot and Mayhem

Here's a fun fact, I usually write my posts late at night. I, for perhaps the first time, am writing this post early in the morning. I am not a morning person. Never have been and never will be. I've never been a good sleeper so this time of day is just not pleasant for me. I barely slept last night. In fact, I finally fell asleep around 5:00 a.m. and then one of my demanding kitties felt the need to ask for breakfast by yelling in my face. How dare he want to eat. Welp, I've given up and I have a post to write so here I am. Why am I telling you this? There's a big chance that I will have grammatical errors and/or not make sense. Please focus on the pretty pictures and go easy on me please! 

So the Snail Nail Swatcher has struck again! Last week was Maria's of Cult Nails birthday. On the day of, a lot of fabulous bloggers recreated one of her manis and dedicated it to her. I wasn't in the loop but wanted to participate and I am just now posting this. At least it's still her birthday month right? *doh* The manis I have the skill set to recreate were already done so I decided to put my own spin on one instead. This is what I did.

 I used two coats of Cult Nails Riot (green), two coats of Cult Nails Mayhem (holo topper), and one coat Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat. The rhinestones are from a Kiss Nail Art charm pack that I received from the May Nail Art Society Kit. 

I think the center rhinestone is a pretty good match!

Cadillacquer Where the Wild Things Are

I've been so lucky to try out a bunch of new brands lately. Cadillacquer is another new to me brand and I'm intrigued! First of all, I adore the name. As a first and second grade teacher, I often read Where the Wild Things Are (by Maurice Sendak) to my students. I also have fond memories of it from my childhood. It's such a cute story and the illustrations are absolutely charming. It's one of the books I saved when I stopped teaching. Now that I'm thinking of it, I should find it and send it to my nieces and nephew. It's not doing any good collecting dust is it!? The polish, I'll keep for myself. 

Where the Wild Things are by Cadillacquer is a very smoky greyed out green that seems to have some blue in it as well. I love this color. I need to paint a room in my house this color. As for the shimmer and glitter, there is a lot more going on than what immediately meets the eye. There is actually glitter, shimmer, and flakies in this polish. Oh my? Definitely. The shimmer looks like a light yellowy gold, the flakies are iridescent, and the glitter is iridescent and light silver. I probably got some of that wrong but that's what it looks like to me! 

The formula is a bit on the thick side. I wiped the excess off on my brush to make my coats pretty thin. If you apply it with a lot of polish on your brush, it will get a little goopy and hard to control. Once I put less on my brush, it went on just fine. I will probably add a little polish thinner to the bottle.

I used two thin coats and finished up with Seche Vite top coat. 

Here is a macro of the bottle. You can see the shimmer on the upper right side of the picture. It's kind of hard to see the flakies, but they are there. Have I mentioned how much I love the color? Yum.

If you don't mind adding some polish thinner or putting in a little extra effort for a beautiful polish, I can recommend this. I personally don't have a problem adjusting the amount I normally have on my brush as long as I love how it looks. This will be a keeper for me.

CrowsToes Green Thumb of Doom

I love the name of this polish. My husband loves to garden but I tend to kill every plant I touch. CrowsToes Green Thumb of Doom is another beauty from the springTHIS 2013 collection. It's the grassy green version of Tequila Sunrise. It has a golden shimmer as well but the particles are larger than they are in Tequila Sunrise. It's formula is a little on the thin and sheer side but it applies smoothly and is opaque with three coats. I was going to use Zoya Josie as my base color but decided to wear it on it's own. I used three coats and one coat of Seche Vite top coat. 

I have a thing for green polish so this is one of my favorite CrowsToes. What do you think about it?

Cult Nails Deal With It

When I ordered Coco's Untamed Collection from Cult Nails, this is the polish I thought I'd like the least. Don't get me wrong, I love green polish. I just normally gravitate to darker shades. As you may know, I'm not a fan of neons or anything too bright and this would fall into that category for me. I was very surprised when this ended up being my favorite from the collection. I liked how it looked with my skin tone (shocking). I think the intense gold shimmer is what did it for me. It gives this polish a warmer tone and sets it apart from other lime green polishes. By the way, the shimmer is absolutely crazy. You can see it inside and outside, just the way I like it. 

 The formula was very easy to work with. It went on smoothly and was opaque in two coats. It self leveled perfectly, didn't pool or get gooey, and dried quickly. 

It dried pretty shiny but I added Seche Vite for my top coat to protect it and give it an extra glossy look.

Isn't it gorgeous? I can't get over that gold shimmer. You can find this and other amazing polishes here.
