CrowsToes One Trick Pony

I have the One Crazy, Mad Summer Collection by CrowsToes and I've been going back and forth with how to show them to you. I originally planned on doing a collection post but I just can't do that. I have too many pictures from this collection and I'm having a hard time deciding which pictures to show. I want to show them all! So, I'm chopping it up. Today, I'm showing you One Trick Pony. 

One Trick Pony is insane. It's a holographic polish that either looks purple or green depending on the lighting. As you will see, the holo effect is extremely strong. The formula was great, I only needed two coats. Top coat does not weaken the holo effect at all (I used Cult Nails Wicked Fast). 

Now, for the holo spam. Put on your sunglasses and strap on your bibs.

Zoya PixieDusts Fall 2013 Collection

Good morning, I hope everyone is having a nice and relaxing weekend. This weekend and past month or so have been a challenge. Tomorrow we have to say goodbye to our dog, Emma who would have been 16 this January. She was my husband's dog first but she's also been mine for over 4 years now. Needless to say, we are heartbroken. I couldn't sleep so here I am, writing a post. I'm not sure how I'll be feeling afterwards and may need some time before I post again. Maybe, it will serve as a distraction and I'll keep going. Who knows. I know this is very personal and not about nail polish but I wanted to let you know where my head is at. I'm going to try to keep this one short and try to get some more sleep before we take her in. 

I have been really enjoying the textured nail polish trend this year. I hope it stays around for a while because I can't get enough of it! I've said this before but these polishes are amazing with and without top coat giving you two looks in one bottle. 

One of my favorite textured polishes comes from my favorite brand, Zoya. Their PixieDust line is phenomenal. They are full of glitter and rich in color. I was really excited when it was announced that they would be releasing more PixieDusts for the Fall. This collection is beautiful. There isn't a single one I don't love but I do have a favorite. 

The formula was pretty consistent throughout the collection. The only ones that were different for me was Carter and Tomoko. They were pretty sheer on the first coat. By the second coat, they're opaque and ready to go. The other polishes were practically one coaters. Out of habit, I used two coats for each picture. I also provided a picture with top coat which was Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

Tomoko is a light golden shade that reminds me a little of a sandy beach but with a lot more sparkle. 

As you can see, all of a sudden my nails have grown. Tomoko was the first polish from this collection that I swatched and I had a few breaks afterwards. I didn't have the heart to get rid of these pictures because I love my nails when they are longer. I know, I'm silly.

Ch Ch Ch Chia! Ok, now that I got that out of my system, Chita is a beautiful dark grassy green.

I've been wondering why they named a navy blue polish Sunshine. Does anyone know? This looks like Zoya Sailor Pixified. Beautiful.

At last we have come to my favorite from this collection. Carter is a must have in my opinion. Pictures just don't do it justice. It's a rich royal purple polish with pink shimmer. The pink shimmer against this shade of purple is insane. Be careful driving with this baby on.

NOPI Gumdrops

My obsession with textured nail polish is still going strong and I've recently added Nicole by OPI's Gumdrops Collection to my stash. I almost didn't get it because of how many textured polishes I already have but then I walked into Ulta and you can figure out the rest.

My Cherry Amour

Let's start with my favorite from the collection. A beautiful pinkish red, this polish is full of micro holographic glitter making it extra special. This is two thin coats.

Here is it is with a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat.

Cinna-Man of My Dreams

This shade is so unique, it looks like a deepened rose with brown tones. This is two thin coats.

With one coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat, the rich rosey tone is more enhanced.

Candy is Dandy

A bubble gum pink with silver glitter, Candy is Dandy is girlish and playful. This is two thin coats.

I love it even more with top coat.

Blueberry Sweet On You

 This is a fun light blue that only needs two thin coats.

With top coat, the blue deepens and becomes more rich and beautiful.

I Lilac Gumdrops

This beautiful lavender is a little more sheer than the others. I used three thin coats making sure to give plenty of time for each coat to dry.

It's beautiful with and without top coat. I can't decide which way I love it the most.

A-nise Treat

A basic black textured polish, it lightens a bit when it dries making it look like a dark grey. I used two thin coats.

Here it is with one coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat. 

As you can see, I have been having a hard time with my nails breaking lately. They just don't know if they want to be long or short. They definitely don't want to be squared but that's a battle I'm willing to fight for now.

Nail Art Society - I Love Studs Kit Preview

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far. This is going to be a very quick post as it's a sneak peek of the next Nail Art Society (NAS) kit. NAS is now naming their kits based on it's theme instead of calling them by the month they are released. This month's theme is studs so it is called, "I <3 Studs." 

As a "renowned artist" for NAS, I was given the kit early so I could get a look ready for today. All of the renowned artists for NAS are posting their looks today (or as soon as possible) for you to see! We are really excited about this kit and have a lot of cute design ideas for what you can do with it.

This is what I did!

I love the versatility of the half moon mani. The options are endless from turning the moons into actual moons to something more simple like my design. 

Before I tell you how I did this design, let's talk about the sneak peek. In the I <3 Studs kit, you will get a bottle of Jessica Cosmetics Black Matte (shown on my accent nail) and an assortment of circular studs (all colors shown). Wait until you see what the other girls have done with this kit. They're amazing. 

 I started with a base coat (Cult Nails Get It On) and then put on three coats of Essie Mademoiselle. I finished off that step with a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat. I watched a couple reruns of Say Yes to the Dress to make sure my top coat was completely dry all the way through. When certain my mani was safe and dry, I placed a paper hole reinforcement on the bottom of my nail. Above the paper hole reinforcement I painted my nails Jessica Cosmetics Black Matte. I then quickly removed the paper hole reinforcements and quickly placed my stud before the polish dried. I did this one nail at a time to ensure I'd have enough time to place my stud before the polish dried. I sealed in all of my nails except for my accent nail with Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat. That's it!
