Essie - Shine of the Times

Flakies are huge right now. It seems that every major polish company is jumping on the flakie bandwagon and I am loving it! I've recently acquired flakies from Finger Paints, Zoya, and of course Essie's Shine of the Times. I've read that Shine of the Times looks like Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure and Nubar 2010. I don't have them to compare but the pictures look pretty identical to me. I have been dying to get my hands on 2010 before Essie released Shine of the Times. Lemming satisfied!

Check it out, it has an amazing color shift from an orange/red to a blue/green. I used NOPI Khloe had a Little Lam Lam as my base color. The first picture reminds me of fall leaves. Beautiful!

Eek, I didn't wrap my tips very well! Doh!

Gorgeous right? Shine of the Times is from Essie's Luxeffects Collection that came out over the holidays. I found mine at Ulta last month but they are still available.

Thanks for reading!

Day 25 - Inspired by Fashion

I love shoes and I obviously love nail polish but that about sums up my love and involvement with the world of fashion. When I saw that this was going to be a challenge I chuckled to myself. I know there isn't anything in my closet that is inspiring. Good thing I have Santa to look to for fashion inspiration. Being December is really saving me during these last few challenges. I'm working that angle all the way baby!
Now, I do not wish to ever be able to fit in Santa's suit. I do, however, think his belt is awesome and so my inspiration for today's challenge was born.

Supplies:
OPI Envy - base coat
China Glaze Salsa (two coats) I really love this red!
Seche Vite - One Coat
Tape for the belts and NOPI Razzle Dazzle for the black belts
China Glaze Passion and a small detail brush for the buckles
Seche Vite - One more coat

I almost forgot! I used China Glaze Ruby Pumps on my ring finger for a little sparkle.

My camera doesn't pick up glitter very well. I'm going to search for my manual or try to find it online so I can improve my picture taking skills.

I'm also going to do a better job at remembering to keep the door to my "polish room" open so my cat can keep me company. Believe me, he lets me know when I forget:

He doesn't know how to push the door all the way open. Silly kitty.

I hope you like today's look! I thought it was a lot of fun. Thanks for reading and see you next time!

Day 24 - Inspired by a Book

Ok, so this is known as a song but here is my proof that it's a book too!

When I taught (that sounds really weird) which wasn't long ago, I would read/sing this with my class. It brings me a lot of wonderful memories of teaching 1st and 2nd grade. The holidays are so much more enjoyable when there are children around for me.

I saw this tutorial and wanted to try it which is why I made this stretch with the book/song!

I like to do my nail art upside down so that I can see them. They don't seem upside down to me but I always see them the other way online. =)

Supplies:

OPI Envy - base coat
Zoya Snow White
NOPI - Razzle Dazzle (black)
OPI - In my Back Pocket (orange)
Seche Vite - top coat
Dotting tool and small paint brush for the nose

Don't forget to enter my giveaway, it closes this Friday. I would love to do another giveaway when I hit 50 subscribers on this blog so please subscribe if you like this blog! =) I'm also going to do a giveaway when I hit 100 "likes" on Facebook!
