Nail Art Society Accent with Attitude Kit

Discalimer: I am a "Renowned Artist" for Nail Art Society. I have provided my affiliate link in this post.

It's Nail Art Society time again! This month's kit is named the Accent with Attitude kit. I had a lot of fun with this kit because it features two new to me brands, Mint Polish and Hex Nail Jewelry. I was really impressed with the charms and the polish so now I have more things to be obsessed with. ;)

If you signed up for this month's kit (the deadline to sign up for this kit was the 15th) you will receive:
  • One Mint Polish (either Czarina, Buttered Rum, or Sweet Liberty)
  • Three Hex Nail Jewelry nail charms
  • 2mm square gold studs
  • Nail Art Tweezers (not shown in this post)

Left to right: Hex Nail Jewelry nail charms, studs, and Mint Polish Czarina, Buttered Rum, and Sweet Liberty

Here is a close up of the charms I received. I got a bonus charm for being a Nail Art Society Renowned Artist. I love that they aren't big and bulky since that's not my style. They have a slight curve to them so they fit my nail perfectly. I tried the owl this time and it stayed in perfect condition when I took off my manicure. I used acetone and the finish didn't come off at all. I would advise exposing the charm to acetone as little as possible so they can be reusable for you too!

I used a tape manicure with Mint Polish Buttered Rum and Czarina to make checkers on my nails. I used the gold studs on all nails except for my accent nail which is where I put the owl charm.  You can see that though so let's talk formula. Having never heard of Mint Polish before I wasn't sure what to expect. They come in cute boxes, have a great brush, and the formula is perfection. I felt like I was using a high end polish. I will definitely be purchasing polishes from this company in the future.

I wanted to show a macro of my owl nail so you can see how cute it is. Also, Czarina and Buttered Rum have a beautiful shimmer that's hard to capture but you can get a better idea of what they look like here.

This is Mint Polish Sweet Liberty. It's more coral than red and is a creme polish. Just like the other two Mint Polishes, it has an amazing formula. Oh and it's a one coater.

If you signed up in time for this kit, it should ship late November-early December. If you'd like to sign up for next month's kit, the deadline is December 15th. I apologize for not getting this post up before the 15th this month. I will do my best to get next month's post up on December 12th if you'd like to wait for the preview before signing up. Subscribers do get 20% off the A La Carte Shop which is pretty cool. You can sign up for NAS, here (my affiliate link) for $11.95 a month plus shipping and handling. If you'd rather not go through my link, you can always sign up on their website

Nail Art Society - I Love Studs Kit Preview

Discalimer: I am a "Renowned Artist" for Nail Art Society. I have provided my affiliate link in this post.

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far. This is going to be a very quick post as it's a sneak peek of the next Nail Art Society (NAS) kit. NAS is now naming their kits based on it's theme instead of calling them by the month they are released. This month's theme is studs so it is called, "I <3 Studs."

As a "renowned artist" for NAS, I was given the kit early so I could get a look ready for today. All of the renowned artists for NAS are posting their looks today (or as soon as possible) for you to see! We are really excited about this kit and have a lot of cute design ideas for what you can do with it.

This is what I did!

Half Moon Manicures
I love the versatility of the half moon mani. The options are endless from turning the moons into actual moons to something more simple like my design.

Before I tell you how I did this design, let's talk about the sneak peek. In the I <3 Studs kit, you will get a bottle of Jessica Cosmetics Black Matte (shown on my accent nail) and an assortment of circular studs (all colors shown). Wait until you see what the other girls have done with this kit. They're amazing.

I started with a base coat (Cult Nails Get It On) and then put on three coats of Essie Mademoiselle. I finished off that step with a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat. I watched a couple reruns of Say Yes to the Dress to make sure my top coat was completely dry all the way through. When certain my mani was safe and dry, I placed a paper hole reinforcement on the bottom of my nail. Above the paper hole reinforcement I painted my nails Jessica Cosmetics Black Matte. I then quickly removed the paper hole reinforcements and quickly placed my stud before the polish dried. I did this one nail at a time to ensure I'd have enough time to place my stud before the polish dried. I sealed in all of my nails except for my accent nail with Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat. That's it!

If you'd like to subscribe in time for this kit, the deadline is October 15. Kits are $11.95 a month plus shipping and handling. You can sign up for NAS, here (my affiliate link). I do not get compensated if you sign up. If you'd rather not go through my link, you can always sign up on their website

This is a giveaway from Nail Art Society that's going until October 15.

Please scroll to the very end of this post to see more nail art designs using the I <3 Studs kit!

Nail Art Society - Gold Flake Kit

Discalimer: I am a "Renowned Artist" for Nail Art Society. I have provided my affiliate link in this post.

It's time for another nail art kit from Nail Art Society! Today, I'm going to show you what subscribers received (or will be soon) for the September 2013 kit which is called the "Gold Flake Kit." Instead of referring to kits by the month, they will have a name from now on.

Check out everything that comes with this kit! I was thrilled to get the Jessica (Cinnamon Kiss) polish. I have been wanting to try this brand for a while and this shade was on my wish list. Let's take a closer look at the goodies.

The kit came in this beautiful black velvet bag. It made me feel like I was getting something extra special and luxurious. It really worked with the gold theme.

Jessica Nail Polish - Cinnamon Kiss
Cala 3D Nail Decorations (stickers)

Below are the stickers out of their packaging. They have a glittery texture to them and are nice a sturdy.

Silver and gold nail art foil. I recommend using tweezers with the foil. They are very delicate and require a gentle touch.

Adoro Rhinestones

This is the look I came up with using Jessica Cinnamon Kiss, Cala 3D stickers, gold foil, gold studs (from my personal supplies), and gold striping tape (from my personal supplies).
The scalloped edge of the foil was created by placing the bat sticker upside down along the edge of the gold foil.

Jessica Cinnamon Kiss had a wonderful formula. It had a creamy formula that was opaque within two coats. It was nice and smooth, self leveled well, and dried quickly. I was very pleased with it and look forward to trying more polishes from this brand.

Nail Art Society kits are $11.95 plus shipping and handling. In addition to the kit, you will receive a card that has pictures of manis using the kit supplies from the Nail Art Society's "Renowned Artists" (formerly Gurus). I think this is an excellent deal. You can sign up, here (my affiliate link). That is my personal affiliate link, I do not receive compensation if you sign up.

Being a "Renowned Artist" for Nail Art Society, I have had a sneak peek into the next kit. It is going to be my favorite kit so far. You seriously won't want to miss it. Here's a little hint! To get the "I <3 Studs" kit you need to subscribe by October 15.

Here is a giveaway opportunity!

Nail Art Society August 2013 Kit

Welcome back to the Nail Art Society (NAS)! Most of you who have subscribed in time for the August nail art kit have probably received your new goodies. For those of you who haven't received it yet, here is a sneak peak! For everyone else, this post should give you an idea of what an NAS kit is like.

I have mentioned before that I am a Nail Art Society Guru. That means that I am on a panel of people who provide feedback, ideas, etc for NAS in terms of their kits. I receive these products before the kits go out to test them out. Basically, I play with them and send pictures of my nail art. It has been a lot of fun to be a part of this amazing group of women (even though I feel completely under qualified).

Ok, let's talk about the August kit!

The August kit came with two packets of water decals (silver and colorful butterflies). The packet of silver butterflies also has roses and hearts. Each packet has one sheet of decals. It also comes with four Orly Instant Artists. The colors you get from left to right are Platinum, Jet Black, Crisp White, and True Blue.

Now I'm going to show you three manis that I did using these products.

Orly Instant Artists Nail Art
Products Used: Cult Nails Get It On base coat, Cult Nails Tempest (white creme), all four Orly Instant Artists, and Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat.

Orly Instant Artists are not regular nail polish. They are water based paint, like acrylic paint. They don't work very well if you apply them to your bare nail so it's important to put on a coat of polish first. Another thing that's important to note is that they do not have regular polish brushes. They have striper brushes making them ideal for endless nail art designs. They wash off with just water so seal in your design with a coat of top coat when your done.

I don't have very much experience with striper brushes. In fact, I think this is my third try with them. I also painted with my non dominant hand making this task even more difficult. I decided to make alternating lines with each color that overlapped and curved a little. The nice thing about this kind of paint is that you have plenty of time to work with it until you're satisfied with the results. I  liked this abstract look and it's something you can do even if you don't have very much experience with using a striper brush.

Cala Water Decal Designs
Butterfly Water Decal Nail Art
Products Used: Cult Nails Get It On base coat, China Glaze You Drive Me Coconuts, Cala water decal, and Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat.

Silver Rose Water Decal Nail Art
Products Used: Duri Rejuvacote base coat, Smokey Mountain Lacquers Her Majesty, Cala water decal, and Seche Vite top coat.

Nail Art Society

I would like to introduce you to a fairly new monthly subscription service for nail art supplies. Nail Art Society (NAS) started sometime last year (I think). They quickly received a lot of attention and interest. So much so, that their system couldn't handle it. Like any growing company in the beginning stages, there were bumps. As a result, the kits were put on hold so that NAS could regroup, reorganize, etc. They relaunched this month with an amazing kit which should be shipping out shortly. To read all about the changes that have been made, click here.

So what exactly is Nail Art Society? It's a monthly subscription service for $9.95 (+shipping) that comes with a variety of nail art supplies, and/or polish. I have only received two kits so far and they both included polish. What you get is on trend allowing you to experiment with your nail art without breaking the bank. To find out more about how it works, click here

Nail Art Society has a panel of gurus who have been creating looks from the NAS kits to give ideas and inspiration. For some crazy reason, I was asked to be one of them. If you have seen the panel of ladies NAS has, you will know that they are extremely talented nail artists. I'm trying not to feel too intimidated because I am not at their level right now. I am, however, thrilled and honored to be a part of this and look forward to showing you what I do with the kits. I can't say what exactly is in the kit for August but it involves Orly and it's good.

I'm excited for this new chapter with NAS and look forward to working with them and developing my nail art skills.

For those of you who have already heard of NAS and signed up in time to get the August kit (the deadline for Aug. has passed), you can enter this nail art contest!

Check out the rules (contest ends Sept. 30), here

Good luck to everyone who enters.
