31 Day Challenge - Day 10 Gradient Nails

Gradients make a beautiful and unique manicure and they are pretty easy! All you need is a piece of makeup sponge a couple of polishes and you're good to go. So easy and it looks so fancy. I got Cult Nails new Top Coats in the mail a few days ago and I've been itching to try them out. Charlatan is my favorite so it won for today's look. I must say, the weather today was gloomy. I didn't have the light I needed to really show off this polish. Trust me when I say that this looks a lot better in person. 

For this look, I used two coats or Orly Liquid Vinyl. I then applied Cult Nails Charlatan onto a piece of makeup sponge and dabbed it on my nails. I applied Charlatan in three different coats. With each coat, I moved up closer to the tip creating a gradient effect. I sealed it in with Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat.

 Charlatan is a top coat that is meant to be layered on top of a base color. It flashes from magenta to violet. The duochrome is intense. It's stunning. I wish I could have captured how amazing it really is.

Charlatan is from Cult Nail's newest release, The Deceptive Collection. All five polishes in this collection are beautiful but Charlatan is the one that stands out. It's an absolute must have in my book.

The 31 Day Challenge - Day 1 (Red)

Red is my favorite color and my nail polish collection reflects that. I have a lot of red polish, many of which I haven't even tried yet. I know, it's a shame. It was hard to decide which polish to pick for today. I've had my picks from OPI's Germany Collection for a while so I thought I'd start there. 

Danke Shiny Red is a beautiful shimmery red. All of the swatches I've seen online look bright red but my bottle had an orange tinge to it. Maybe it was from a weird batch? I still dig it. It had a great formula, no complaints here. It went on like butter.

I used three coats of Danke Shiny Red (two is enough) and used an image from Bundle Monster plate 316 (BM-316) with China Glaze Passion. I topped it all of with a coat of Seche Vite. As you can see, I was impatient and smudged my ring finger. =(

31 Day Nail Challenge - Part 2

When I started this blog last October, I started with doing the 31 day nail challenge. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing but I loved painting my nails and this helped give me direction for my blog. If you've been with me from the beginning you may remember that I never finished. I was so overwhelmed with doing so many techniques for the very first time that I ran out of steam. A bunch of bloggers are doing it again and I'm going to try once more. 

I hope I will see an improvement from last year's try. I hope I finish it. I hope I finish it in less than three months. LOL I also hope to do more nail art this time. Last time I just did swatches as much as I could get away with. Oh crap, I hope my tribal mani and water marble doesn't look like a 4 year old did it this time.
