Pretty & Polished Swing

Red is my favorite color so I'm always a sucker for red polish especially if there's glitter involved. I went to the Pretty & Polished Etsy shop to pick up Jawbreaker but this pretty red polish jumped in my cart!!!!! Has that ever happened to you? ;p I didn't have the heart to kick it out, that's my story and I'm stickin to it. I knew I'd like Swing ok and was so surprised when I put it on. It's just beautiful. I'm going to need a regular size bottle of this. *sigh* It's a red jelly with different sizes of white and black glitter. It looks like the black glitter is smaller but the white glitter, which is hex, ranges in size. It is super sheer on the first coat but builds up well. It looks like a jelly sandwich without all the work (not that those are terribly difficult). I put on three coats and I LOVE it!!!!!!
This is a must have just like Jawbreaker.

As you can see from the picture above, there are large pieces of white hexagon glitter. I could not dig those out which is my only complaint. I think it's because I have a mini bottle and the brush is really short so I couldn't reach the sides of the bottle to scoop those bad boys up. I'd probably have better luck with the regular size bottle. It still looks pretty without the large hex glitter but I would have liked to have a few to see how it looks!

What do you think of swing? You can find it here. Chelsea is the mastermind behind these beauties and is wonderful to work with. She responds quickly to e-mails, orders, etc. and is such a sweetheart.

Pretty & Polished Jawbreaker

Have you jumped on the Indie Polish bandwagon yet? I have! There are so many great new brands out there on Etsy, Ninja Polish, etc. it's making my head spin. Today I'm going to show you Jawbreaker from Pretty & Polished. There are a lot of pictures so make yourself comfortable!

This goes on a bit sheer so I put on one coat of OPI Alpine Snow first and then two coats of Jawbreaker. Formula was excellent and I wore this for a few days and I didn't have any chips. I can rarely report on wear time because I change my polish almost daily. The fact that I wore this for a few days means that I  really really love this one. You can buy this in a mini or full sized bottle. I bought a mini but recommend a full size because it's awesome.

China Glaze Prismatics - My Picks

When I first saw the promo for the Prismatic collection I assumed the were going to be holos (holographic). I was SO excited because I missed out on the OMG collection. Shortly after the first promo circulated the nail blog world I sadly realized that these were not holo. I immediately put this collection in the "do not buy" category and moved on to drool over other polishes. I tried to hold strong but sadly, I am weak. I can't remember which evil bloggers had the swatches (there were many) that caught my eye but I got sucked in and I had to pick these up. I know, weak!!

Well, they aren't holo and they aren't duochrome (ok, maybe a tiny bit) but they are glittery and quite stunning in my opinion. I think the let down of not being holo is what turned me off but I'm glad I caved in. I do love all things glitter you know.

You may notice that my index and middle finger look different than my ring finger and pinky. I put on a coat of Orly Liquid Vinyl on my index and middle finger for each polish I'm going to show you. I prefer having a coat of black underneath these polishes. I think it gave the polishes more depth and made the colors pop more. It looks nice without the base color as well and I wanted you to see them with and without the black. Make sense? Ok! Here we go!

Full Spectrum
Upon first glance, this looks like a violet glitter. As you can see, there are many different colors of glitter mixed in but the majority of the glitter is violet. I see red, green, blue, pink, and yellow pieces of glitter swirling around adding more interest, texture, and playfulness to this beauty. I used two coats of Full Spectrum on each finger and one coat of black polish on my index and middle finger.

Liquid Crystal
I'm a little stumped with how to describe this, it's so fascinating to me. This was my favorite from the four I picked. Liquid Crystal's main color is a silvery blue that has a slight flash of light purple. You can see the color shift in the last picture on my index finger. It has so many colors mixed in just like the others in this collection. I like this polish with and without the black underwear. One coat of black polish on my index and middle finger and two coats of Liquid Crystal on all nails. Love this!

Optical Illusion
I adore this shade of green. It has just enough blue and grey to make it soft and soothing. It makes me think of the beach for some reason. It isn't the color of the ocean but there is just something about it that takes me there. I love the mix of glitter in this polish, there seems to be quite a bit of blue mixed in. It's so sparkly and funky but there is a soft quality that I love (if that makes sense). =)

Prism
The main color in this polish is a deep silvery violet. I think this looks better with the black polish (index and middle finger) underneath, it just gives it so much more depth. I love how this looks with my skin tone, I can't wait to wear it again.

I hope you liked my picks from the Prismatic collection. Did you grab any of these glitter bombs or pass them by? By the way, these are top coat eaters. I used two thick coats of Seche Vite to get a smooth finish.

Icing Magnetix

My good friend has been raving about Icing's Magnetix Polishes for a while. The mall with Icing was out of the way for me so I took my sweet time getting over there to check them out. I'm glad she talked me into trying them because they are pretty nice! In comparison to the other magnetics I tried, this was pretty amazing. I tried the green magnetic polish (I couldn't find a name on the bottle). So boring to just call it green! I always enjoy a good (or bad) polish name. I have many a polish that were purchased because of the name. Lame reason to buy a nail polish but I promise, I have to actually like the polish in order to buy it too. Anywhoo, I digress, let's see Icing Green Magnetic Polish. lol

Isn't it pretty?? Poor baby needs a proper name. I really loved this one. The application was pretty good. I only needed two coats and I didn't have staining when I took it off! Hallelujah! I really loved the strength of the magnet on this one. You can turn it two ways to create a different look. I prefer the diagonal lines. The other design is a wavy line that goes down your nail. The only complaint I have is that the magnet is inside the lid. It's not on a cap that you can pull off of the actual lid. Not a big deal, just a preference for me.

I don't know how consistent Icing's Magnetix polishes are because I just grabbed this one. Have you tried any other color from this line? How did you like it?

That's it for magnetic polishes! Did you like having a week long sampling of the different magnetic polishes out there? I know that there are many other brands that carry these but my wallet was getting pretty thin and I had to stop myself here. =)
