Nail Fail - Candy Corn Nails

Last year, I really wanted to do candy corn nails but just couldn't figure it out. I tried numerous times and it was a disaster each time. Now I know that I didn't give my polish enough time to dry so the tape wouldn't ruin the manicure. I also didn't know that putting a top coat on and letting that completely dry would protect the colors. I was just barely learning about nail art and had never done stripes before. After a few tries, I got frustrated and moved on.

Fast forward one year, I tried it again. Although I executed the design I wanted, it didn't turn out perfectly by any means. I mostly do swatches so I haven't been doing very much nail art. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it. =) It's fine from far away but up close, you can see that my colors bled under the tape.

Oh well. Live and learn right? ;)

White: OPI Alpine Snow
Orange: Zoya Arizona
Yellow: China Glaze Happy Go Lucky

I almost didn't post this but I decided that although it's flawed, it's still cute.

31 Day Challenge - Day 20 Water Marble

I have been dreading this. My last and only water marble attempt didn't turn out well so I was nervous about how this would go. It's still not fabulous but it's an improvement. That's what counts right?

I started off by painting two coats of OPI Alpine Snow. I wanted to have a base color just in case the marbling tore or slipped or something. The thought is the base color will hide the mess up. After that dried, I used a combination of China Glaze Flyin' High, For Audrey, and White Cap (that didn't show up) and OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.

I taped the sides of my index finger too close to the nail so I had a border of Alpine Snow on both sides. It looked really bad so I added little dots of ChG Flyin' High and For Audrey to try to cover it up. It's a total mess but my other nails turned out pretty cute I think. Not bad for my second try, right? =)

Well, I'm glad that's over with! This is not my favorite technique. If you're good at it, it looks amazing. To get good means to practice. I have no desire to practice this, it's too messy and such a pain!

I hope you liked it! I'm not sure what's going on with my pinky, there is a cool design on it but my camera blurred it out. Bah!

NOTD - Oscar Night

My husband and I like to watch awards shows together. I like to see the pretty dresses and well, I'm not sure what he gets out of it. Tonight we watched the Oscars and I did a mani to celebrate just for fun.

I wish my tux wasn't crooked but I'm still getting a feel for nail art so I don't think it's that bad. I used two coats of Orly Black Vinyl for my base color except for my ring finger which has three coats of OPI Alpine Snow. For the tux (inspired by Cute Polish) I used a black nail striper for all details. I even used the tip of the striper brush to make the buttons. The glitter is one coat of China Glaze Marry a Millionaire. I love how this glitter looks layered with the black. Gorgeous!  I topped everything with OPI Top Coat. I think it's a fun look, I hope you like it!

Day 28 - Inspired by a Flag

Two posts in one day, I'm on fire! =p I based this design off of the American flag as you can see. I had a lot of fun doing this one. I started with two coats of OPI - Alpine Snow and then did a half moon mani with Zoya Carmen and Breezi. After that, I stamped and striped. Striped, not stripped. I just want to be clear. =) Here is a picture of my design!

Supplies:
OPI  Base Coat
OPI - Alpine Snow
Zoya Carmen (red) & Breezi (blue)
