Day 22 - Inspired by a Song

Last weekend my husband put up my tree and I happily smothered it in ornaments. Decorations are up and I'm wracking my brain for gift ideas. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in my house and on my nails.

Supplies:
OPI Envy (base coat) & Seche Vite (top coat)
Index Finger: Orly Sweet Peacock (blue), Zoya Trixie (silver) and Bundle Monster Plate #14 for the snowflake image
Middle Finger: Zoya Holly and Rina (green) and red and yellow rhinestones for ornaments
Ring Finger: China Glaze Champagne Bubbles (one coat) with China Glaze Twinkle Lights (two coats) on top
Pinky: Zoya Colbie (red), China Glaze Passion (gold), and Bundle Monster #225 for the ornament stamp with a gold rhinestone on the top (to tie it in with the other nails)
Thumb: China Glaze Champagne Bubbles (one coat) and Blonde Bombshell (two coats) on top

Day 13 - Animal Print

I had a lot of fun doing this design. It reminds me of the Lisa Frank school supplies I used to love when I was a little girl. Remember Lisa Frank? I had a bunch of her erasers, pencils, folders, etc. back in the day.

I just googled Lisa Frank and had a walk through memory lane. Ahh, the 80s.

Please excuse my dry nails. I put lotion on before I took the pictures but it didn't help too much. This challenge is killing my cuticles and skin! I will be soaking my nails in cuticle oil today, sheesh!

Ok, I used a discontinued color for my base. I know, naughty. It's China Glaze - Tickle My Triangle and then I used Zoya - Trixie for the animal print stamp which is Bundle Monster plate #221. I used Seche Vite for my top coat and OPI Envy for by base coat as usual!

How do you like my black background? Is it better or worse? I'm trying to improve my pictures and will take any tips you can throw my way. I'm really bummed that today was overcast because Tickle My Triangle is a holo. =*(

Day 8 - Metalic

I've been saving my favorite silver polish for this day. I want you to see how amazing it is so I kept it to a swatch. I took some pictures in the sun (yay it came out) and inside. Here is Zoya's Trixie:

Outside, no flash. Please excuse my scratch. My kitty doesn't know that he can only scratch up my other hand. We had a big talk about it. ;)

Outside, no flash.

Outside, no flash.

Inside, with flash.

Isn't it stunning? It works well for stamping too. In fact it picked up the images a lot better than Konad Special Polish Silver did (that did not work for me at all).

Application was very easy, it's runnier than my other Zoyas so I had to take care to make my coats nice and thin. Other than that, it went on smoothly and I only needed two coats for full opacity. I used Poshe for my top coat so drying time was very quick. Don't you love how shiny it is? This is a must have, in my opinion! Anything Zoya is a must have, you know how much I love Zoya!

Practice Makes Perfect?

I sure hope so! I tried two different candy corn manicures and hated the results. I'm going to return the yellow and orange polishes I found and get stripers (not strippers) in those colors. I think I will be able to handle those better. =) This is what I tried today. I had such a different idea in my mind but I just couldn't execute it. This blog isn't to show how skilled I am because I'm just learning (this is my second nail art design). I hope you'll be patient with me! I'm planning on doing some swatches of the Halloween polishes I chose this season. I'm also going to try my candy corn mani again and try a spooky drip design.

I used China Glaze - It's Alive (green) from the Haunting collection and Zoya - Trixie (silver) with a dotting tool. The black image was stamped with Black Special Polish (yes, it's called special lol) with plate BM-223. I like how the stamping turned out but wish my dots were more even.

Remember, I paint my nails in bed so my surface isn't very steady. That's my excuse. Ha!

Thanks for reading! Let me know if you have any questions about nail stamping. It's pretty awesome!
