Zoya Roxy and Chloe

Before I get started on this amazing combination, I have to say that this was not my idea. Someone posted this amazing duo on Zoya's Facebook page and I had to try it out. I wish I would have written down who posted it, if you know who it is please let me know so I can give proper credit.

I wore this for almost a week which is a big deal for me. I change my polish every two days and sometimes once a day. Yep, my nails are pretty trashed right now. I did not want to take this off. If I didn't have so many swatches to do right now I'd be putting these beauties back on my nails.

Roxy is a super glittery (purple glitter) red toned purple. It's gorgeous on it's own but put a coat of Chloe on top and it's stunning! Chloe is from the Fleck Effect collection (Spring 2012). Zoya describes it as a "sheer coral pink base with two types of duochrome Mylar flakes: red-orange to gold and gold-green to blue." Ready for the massive amount of pictures I have for you? Even with my crappy camera you can see how pretty this is. That's intense.

The picture below is with flash so you can see all the different flakies.

Amazing right? Love it! No, my nails haven't grown out yet, this is from last month (I think).

Zoya Bevin *Picture Heavy*

So many colors like Zoya's Bevin have come out in the Spring collections it seems. I didn't have anything like Bevin when it came out and now I see shades just like it everywhere! Bevin is a soft sage green creme that came out with Zoya's True Collection. I wasn't sure how it would look with my skin tone but I love it. I can see it looking great on almost anyone! I tried it by itself first and then experimented with some flakies. As you can see, I took these pictures before I broke my nails. =)  Oh how I miss my long pretty nails!

 Zoya Bevin with Zoya Opal

Zoya Bevin and Zoya Maisie

Zoya Bevin with Essie Pure Pearlfection (index finger), Shine of the Times (middle finger), and As Gold as it Gets (ring finger)

As most Zoyas are, Bevin was practically opaque with one coat but I used two for good measure. I love the application, I had no problems. I have found that Zoya makes my favorite cremes when it comes to application. This color is very unique in my collection and I absolutely love it!

What do you think? Which layering combo is your favorite or do you like it best on it's own?

Stay tuned for more from the True Collection!

NOTD - Oscar Night

My husband and I like to watch awards shows together. I like to see the pretty dresses and well, I'm not sure what he gets out of it. Tonight we watched the Oscars and I did a mani to celebrate just for fun.

I wish my tux wasn't crooked but I'm still getting a feel for nail art so I don't think it's that bad. I used two coats of Orly Black Vinyl for my base color except for my ring finger which has three coats of OPI Alpine Snow. For the tux (inspired by Cute Polish) I used a black nail striper for all details. I even used the tip of the striper brush to make the buttons. The glitter is one coat of China Glaze Marry a Millionaire. I love how this glitter looks layered with the black. Gorgeous!  I topped everything with OPI Top Coat. I think it's a fun look, I hope you like it!

Nail Mail

I love reading posts about other people's "Nail Mail." I think I like to live vicariously through other bloggers as if I've received the same beautiful goodies in my mail box. My last Nail Mail was so amazing I thought it time to share with you. The pictures are awful, the sun wasn't out and you all know how awesome my camera is. Don't worry, when it's time to swatch these beauties they will be done right. My sister from CocoBee Photography is going to take the pictures for me so that their true beauty can be shown. I'm so excited to have pictures done by a pro. Thanks Amber!

I have been wanting to try A England for a long time and they are so gorgeous, the pictures I've seen do not do these beauties justice. I'm not knocking the pictures, there are so many talented photographers out in the nail blogging world. They are just that beautiful.

Left to right: Princess Sabra (I'm wearing it right now and it's amazing), Dragon, Saint George, Lady of the Lake, and Tristam.

I purchased these from Llarowe who specializes in international polish brands. She also sells Lynnderella but it's still really hard to get those so I haven't tried....yet. =) They arrived quickly and were very well packaged so I was very happy with my experience. This was my first time ordering from Llarowe and I can't wait for my next splurge. It will be a while I'm afraid.

Do you own any A Englands? Which ones do you have?

OPI Holland Collection - My Picks

Today I have part of OPI's Holland Collection to show you. I picked six shades from this collection, the rest I either had a dupe for or they just didn't compliment my skin tone. The shades I picked are: Did You Ear' About Van Gogh?, Dutch Ya Just Love OPI?, I Have a Herring Problem, Pedal Faster Suzi!, Vampsterdam, and Wooden Shoe Like to Know? Oh, I love OPI's names. lol

I didn't have any problems with the formulas. They all went on smoothly and were opaque by the second coat. Dry time was great but then again I use Seche Vite as my top coat which speeds things along. =) My only complaint which is kind of a big one is that the gorgeous shimmer that is visible in some of the bottles weren't as strong on the nail. Some shades have more shimmer on the nail than others. The one I was really disappointed with was Dutch Ya Just Love OPI? The shimmer was barely visible unless I was out in the sun and it still wasn't as strong as I expected. It's still a beautiful color, I just wish the gold had more pop.

Other than that, I was happy with my choices!

Dutch Ya Just Love OPI?

I have to apologize for my sad little camera (I do that a lot), it did not want to show you the shimmer. You can see a little bit of the gold. Scrangie has great swatches of this color, you should check those out. http://www.scrangie.com/2012/01/opi-holland-collection-for-springsummer.html

I took pictures outside in the sun and they didn't turn out well at all. This color is gorgeous and must be seen in person....even though the gold shimmer doesn't show on the nail very well. Enough about that. =)

Vampsterdam
My favorite name and color from this collection!

Vampy colors are my favorite. I love how rich this deep purple is. The finish is a little shimmery, shiny, and a little...hmmm not metallic but almost. That makes sense right? ;) This color feels like the odd one of the bunch but I LOVE it.

Wooden Shoe Like to Know?

This is a lovely milk chocolatey color with a faint gold shimmer. I wish the shimmer on this was more visible on the nail as well, but it's still a nice creamy brown that makes me want chocolate.

I Have a Herring Problem

This isn't very color accurate, it has a slight green undertone to it. The shimmer is as strong on the nail as it is in the bottle which makes me happy. I love this blue and think it's a must have from this collection.

Pedal Faster Suzi!
I feel like I've acquired a lot of pinks lately which is really unlike me. I do love this shade of pink and the shimmer...wait a second...what the!!!!!!!!!

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Excuse me while I cry and go to nubs.
*sigh* It's a lovely pink, the shimmer is gorgeous, my nails are so short!!!! Don't you hate it when that happens? Grr.

Moving on...

Did You Ear' About Van Gohg?
This is a nice khaki creme. It's a little darker in real life but not much.

There you have it, my picks from OPI's The Holland Collection and my nail tragedy. I know, they are just nails but it still makes me sad.

Have you picked out any colors from this collection? Which one is your favorite?

OPI - The New York City Ballet

This just spotted on the interwebs, OPI is releasing six beautiful polishes inspired by The New York City Ballet in April 2012. I want these not only because they are gorgeous but because I love The New York City Ballet. I've seen them perform only twice in my life and there is nothing else quite like it. OPI has described as shear and subtle shades that can be worn alone or layered with the glitter polish (Pirouette My Whistle). I do prefer my polish to be opaque and true to the bottle color so I haven't decided if I will be purchasing any (besides the glitter) yet. I am excited to see a swatch of the first two on the left (Care to Danse? and My Pointe Exactly). Maybe with an extra coat or two these can build up to be more true to what is seen in the bottle. We shall see!

Left to right: Care to Danse? (that's how they spelled it), My Pointe Exactly, You Callin' Me a Lyre?, Don't Touch my Tutu!, Barre my Soul, and Pirouette My Whistle.

What do you think of these? Will you be purchasing any?

OPI Spiderman Collection

I'm not very excited about this movie but you know I'm excited for the polish! It's due to come out in May. I just have bottle and display pictures. I can't wait to see the swatches! I don't have early access to collections but I'll let you know when I find any swatches online.

I'm really excited about Just Spotted the Lizard, Into the Night, and the Green Shatter. Just Spotted the Lizard looks like a duochrome doesn't it?

Why do they tease us and make us wait? I'm still dying to get my hands on The Hunger Games polish by China Glaze.

OPI - Fly (Nicki Minaj)

I have my picks from a couple collections coming soon. Before I post those, I want to share one last swatch from OPI's Nicki Minaj collection. I took a lot of pictures and loaded them up on my laptop for editing and then my adapter stopped working. The Apple Store is downtown and I just had a procedure done on my back so I couldn't make the trip. My husband sensed my laptop withdrawals and picked up a new adapter for me today. Yay! He works downtown so it worked out well. Ok, enough babbling here is Fly!

Before I got into nail polish, I thought colors that weren't in the red family were strange for nails. I know, I missed out for a looooong time. I always wondered why people would put a color like this on their nails! So narrow minded of me lol.  This is one of my favorite new colors right now. I've been on a blue and green kick lately and I love love love this one. I don't have anything like it although I know there are plenty out there.

Fly is a gorgeous teal creme. The formula was fabulous, opaque in two coats, and I love the shine. Your fingers will get a little Smurfy when taking this off but it's not that bad.

I tried a few different layering looks for you to see. Left to right: OPI Super Bass Shatter, Essie A Cut Above, OPI Save Me, and OPI Nicole Kendall on the Katwalk (my favorite combo).

Alright, that completes my OPI Nicki Minaj swatches. I'm off to work on the OPI Holland and China Glaze Electropop Collections.

As always, thanks for reading!
